Hamilton, Ontario

The light/dark stone work on the street level of the Hamilton, Ontario, post office (seen here in 1906) reminds me of the Duomo in Siena, with its horizontal stripes of black and white, an allusion to the black and white horses of the city’s founders; I prefer the Hamilton post office, with this more subtle tan/brown pattern.
