Mount Pocono, PA

Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, was originally a small town at the junction of five roads, surrounded by forests and lakes used for lumbering and ice-harvesting. But the arrival of the railroad, and the proximity of New York and Philadelphia, led to tourism, which became the town’s main source of livelihood. This ivy-covered post office, circa 1910, sports a terrace garden as well as a lovely curved roof over its arched entryway.
