This reminds me of the house uphill from the Bates Motel.
The original Custom House and Post Office, at 908 Main Street in the coastal city of Waldoboro, Maine, designed by Ammi Burnham Young and built in 1855. Young (1798 – 1874), we are told by Wikipedia, was an American architect whose work transitioned from the Greek Revival to the Neo-Renaissance style. “His traditional architectural forms lent a sense of grandeur and permanence to the new country’s institutions and communities,” including Waldoboro.
Amazingly enough, the building is still standing, and it’s for sale! For just $349,000 you can live in the post office. Even more astounding, there are only two bedrooms and one bathroom. And it looks so palatial.
