I have always had trouble with the postal abbreviations for Michigan (MI), Minnesota (MN), Mississippi (MS) and Missouri (MO), but this postcard, mailed in 1905 from Kansas City, Missouri, has prompted me to revisit the M states, and try to get them right. The sender, by the way, wrote, “I am having a fine time. I hate to come back to No. Dakota.” I’m sure we’ve all felt that way about somewhere, sometime.
